My son-in-laws brother has a 98 Explorer, and it won't start. He couldn't afford to have the dealer top up the windshield washer fluid, let alone pay to have it towed and worked on, so I'm trying to help him. Cycled the ign key, and listened in the fuel tank and could hear the pump. Fuel pressure seems good at the rail. Checked for spark, and found none.
Plugged my Auto Enginuity into it and pulled the codes. One of them was "theft detected, vehicle disabled." I tried to reprogram the PATS, but I was plenty nervous about it - I have little idea how PATS works, but the system refused me anyways. Tried the spare key, still won't start. Pulled codes again, and all I get now is a B1352, which I googled, and it doesn't seem important.
There isn't a owners manual for it, so I'm kind of in the dark about fuses. Don't know much about these distributorless machines, I'm a 56 yr old rancher, and am fairly proud that I've came as far as I have!
Anybody have any ideas on why no spark?
Thanks for replying Phillip. So how do I fix it? Is it something I can do with my AE software, or does the dealership have to do it? Never had anything to do with this before, as you can probably tell.
Is it windy out there? We had a small tornado rip through last night, and a few roofs are missing around the countryside.
