thanks for all the input...guess the zf6 is not a good idea.
here's the deal 87 f350 6.9 puked the trans (c6) on a road trip. looking for a replacement but NOT looking to spend 2k. Can anyone tell me... will a c6 for a 460 big block fit this application,as I found a rebuilt for a good price?
THANKS ALL
No a 460 bell pattern will not work, it has to be a diesel pattern. There are plenty of C6's out there, or ZF-5's if you want to stay with the manual swap. If you aren't concerned about the overdrive, there are the T-19's as well for manuals.
the T18 gas tranny will also work ig you have the diesel bellhousing.
The last C6 I had rebuilt was around 400 bucks they are way cheaper than the aod trannys.
