our 06's do have the clearance light harness connection behind the passenger side kick panel as rwilimo describes. I installed the clearance lights and never touched the headlight switch. There are a many informative and very detailed threads about this. Use "clearance lights" or "cab lights" as the key word in the search function. Detailed description is Motoman's Madness
If your harness for your lights isn't Ford and you have to tap into the wires, pull the bezel off the intrument cluster. It will take a little effort but will come off. Then get to the light switch from behind.

Even if your not using a Ford harness I would still connect to wiring in the right kick panel, as that is why it is there.
thanks for the help guys! i origianally planned to put it in the passenger kick panel but when i peeked behind my kick panel i coud not locate the plug. but i probly need to pull the panel off to see it.
