Now How About This!!
Yeah, I got carried away, I will not post on this thread again. Still a good conversation.
Politics is a no no in the forum.
What the left of the right side of the aisle did means nothing.
What both sides have done and are doing means everything.
But this needs to be front and center in the news every night.
Instead we here about that poor little girl missing, now found dead in Florida.
Then the next story is about some actor did what ever.
Next story which ball team is beating who.
Tell me when a ball player deserves 130 million salary to play ball for 7 years.
Where are the priorities in this country?
My opinion,
When the little girl was thought kidnapped, important story.
When she was found dead, time for the court system to take over and stop talking about it.
Nancy Grace harping the same story day after day for months now, total waste of a TV station time and the electricity to broadcast that signal.
I would much rather have heard a story on Washington's latest waste of money and who was backing it.
What the actor did or did not do.....another waste of TV news time, does it really make any difference in what I do tomorrow? I think not.
Does the fuel tax increase or the GPS unit in my vehicle affect me more than what that actor did or did not do? You bet it does.
So once again, guess what I would rather be hearing about on the news.
Next is the ball player.
Total waste of money.
Wonder why the tennis shoes I wore back in the 50's and 60's that cost 4 dollars now cost 100 dollars, and they are even made in China instead of here like they were in the 60's.
Sports are totally out of control.
When you look at the money some cities spend to get a team to their town, I almost have to wonder if they are pushing sports as a way of distracting people from the real issues, like how they are wasting money and on what.
I used to be an avid Nascar fan.
What happens on the track today is not a race, it's a production.
Take cars from different manufactures and engineer them to be even with aerodynamics, even with the engines, that is not a race.
A Nascar race today is nothing but a big commercial.
What was that, we gave Pakistan 10 billion dollars while I was watching the race?
The old miss direction magic trick, get you to look over here while I steal your watch.
I guess I am getting old.
The wind generators kill birds and look bad, the hydroelectric plants kill fish.
There are at least 20 to 30 lawsuits in WV right now to stop wind farms and hydrogeneration plants that I know about.
And that many more to stop a couple different transmission lines that are in planning or bidding stages.
Thats why I learn as much I possibly can about energy and am building an electric car. I can't change the world, but I can control some aspects of it around me.
What worries me the most in all of this hollywood/CNN/media turdpile is that the basic question of freedom is not asked anymore. Global warming, taxation, wars, the list goes on, but what is happening in our own back yards?
How many freedoms have been restricted in the last 10 years? This is a question for any country that considers itself free. That is a question we all have to ask ourselves. Is this a free country and why? relatively speaking, the answer is still yes, but where are things headed?
In the mean time, make sure you vote.
Wind turbines, nuclear power, hydroelectric power, oil, coal and even the transmission lines are what the enviromentalists fight.
What they and everyone else forgets is balance.
I have a great idea though, take every enviromentalist name and address down at every meeting they show up for.
Next day, disconnect them from every grid out there.
They don't want electricity, they should be the first to go without.
No oil, they should be the first to go without that as well.
No trees cut for houses, they should be finding a cave to live in real quick.
I watched part of an enviromental discussion in Washington a while back.
I wonder how they got to Washington, rode a bicycle?
Bet not, my guess is one of those nice planes that burn fuel at something like a gallon a second or every 440 feet if you want to figure it another way.
The list goes on.
They buy electricity only from clean renewable sources and pay a premium for it. Then they buy carbon offset credits to cover the environmental cost of traveling to major events using petro fuel. The carbon credits are then supposed to be used to fund environmental projects (SLUSH!!) They are still polluting, but they claim the moral high ground anyway.
Think of it as a tribute for being forgiven of sins to the planet.
I like sports go to every game I can highschool some college havn't been to a pro game in 35 years.
I love racing but when it gets where a regular working guy with a need for speed can't afford to compete I quit love dirt tracks mud bogs etc. dont even watch nascar on tv.
Still like pro rodeo them guys dont win they cant play long.
What I'm saying is we don't have to support what we don't approve there is several states I won't even buy a meal in.
I read a couple weeks that only one country in the world that has starbucks in it still has a strong economy. I thought that was interesting.
As far as the opposition on windfarms we have a new one 10 miles from here I can't here it . I drive through it all the time I'm sure I could here it but I actually haven't noticed it.
Vissually it looks like money sitting up there on top of our only hill. It has provided good jobs for several of our young people allowing them to stay close to there roots.

However, special interest groups yell louder and spend more money directed at the politicians.
So between the two, guess who the politicians pay more attention to even though they are in ther minority?
