The price remains about 21 cents cheaper than in May of 2012, when a gallon of fuel cost $4.075 cents on average.

Prices fell for the 10th consecutive week after hitting a five-year high of $4.159 per gallon on Feb. 25.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported decreases in nine of the 10 regions of the country. Only the Midwest region saw an increase of 2.9 cents per gallon, bringing the average price to $3.868. And only California has an average price of more than $4, at $4.001 per gallon.

Oil has been steady between $90-$95.

diesel finally dropped around here and is averaging $3.49; gas ~$3.15.

How are they justifying prices these days? buddies tell me the night sky in the Cotulla, Pecos, etc.. area is lit up due to all the burn off of natural gas. There is just so much they cannot contain it, yet natural gas is still ~$4 on the market, and rigs are pumping out oil faster than they know what to do with it. WTF?!

We've got a big disparity in prices in our area at the moment. There are three decent sized markets around here and the one I live in/closest to is typically the lowest but is now the highest by lieu of the fact that they haven't changed prices in almost 4 weeks (3.71 to 3.79).

On the way to church Sunday (in another local market), I saw diesel as low as 3.55 and typically around 3.59 to 3.63. Down in town, it's running around 3.69. Of course, I was lazy and didn't check my Gas Buddy on Saturday after getting into town and filling the tank at 3.77 before seeing the 3.55 up the road the next day.

I found out from a friend that runs the gas station/convenience store next door to where I work that the general rule is that the Murphy Oil at the WalMart sets their price, the two big stations on the four-lane follow suit quickly, one of the smaller stations down the street sets theirs (they are within eyesight of the big stations' signs) and my buddy sets his price based on the big stations as well. As long as Murphy doesn't change, neither does anyone else. Frustrating.
