2001 F250 V10 Auto Manual Hubs & Floor Mount transfer case lever. Sometimes when I shift into 4-HI or back to 2-HI or to 4-LOW the light does not come on in the gauge cluster area. Sometimes it does, but doesn't turn off when I change modes. Any idea why?

Question 2: I figure with the floor mount transfer case lever it's still putting the truck into the right mode, right? I mean, it's not like a switch on the dash where you can't tell what's happening, right?

 

There is a switch on the transfer case that turns on the light(s). Check the wiring, or replace the switch.

Yes, with the shifter, you SHOULD be OK without the light telling you it's OK
