Rear wiper stopped working

Actually this is the 3rd time it has stopped working. 2000 exp xlt with 75000 mi.

Twice repaired by the dealer under warranty & ext warranty. Not sure how he fixed it.

I assume this is a fairly common failure as mine quit 3 times so far.

Any suggestions on how to go about trouble shooting it? I'll be fixing it myself.

Mine quit years ago. There's been posts over the years. I figure it just doesn't want to be there.

My daughter drives the explorer now so I want it working for safety mainly. I tried search & did not find anything useful.

If anyone can direct me to a useful thread I'd sure appreciate it.

yeah mine didn't work when i bought my 98 in 03.. i said.. hum.. good thing i will never need it anyways... so far i was right.

My 99 Limited has the same intermixing problem. Is the panel on the door easy to remove to access the switch/motor?

Thanks all, found a few threads, looks like it's probably the window open sw.

I'll take her apart next time the truck is here.

I bet if I clean it & put some dielectric on it'll be good to go.

Hey froggy before you get your DVOM out the ground that the motor uses is actually on the mounting base if you wiggle the rear wiper arm I bet it would work for a little bit the fix is relatively simple take the motor loose clean the mounting of all corrosion and reinstall. Hope this helps!!!
