2 months ago I had my heads replaced and studded all under warranty, while the cab was off the tranny line got capped off to the tranny cooler, and never removed before they gave the truck back to me. Overheated the tranny, brought it back and they fixed it for free. plus a free tranny flush. 3rd gear is now going, so I brought it in today for more warranty work. ball joints were replaced and they told me tomorrow the tech will rip apart the tranny, to see what they can do under warranty. truck was tuned after the studs were put in but brought back to stock yesterday, and cleared of all codes. p1000 still shows up so before they ripped the tranny apart I asked for the truck back, and now im trying to figure out how to clear p1000 and save my *** so no trace of the tuner is found.....
heard I have to drive a full drive cycle and disconnect batteries... but wont disconnecting batteries just throw the p1000 again. I don't want that code to show up and have them dig deeper because of it.
oh yea and the exhaust, and egr delete was there the first time I brought it in for warranty work. than they studded it still keeping it under warranty if that matters
IF I remember correctly? You have to go through quite a few drive cycles to erase, like 10 I think. Uunless you want to do all the drive cycles which I agree with a failing truck is hard, perhaps take out the batteries, charge over night and leave the headlights on to completely drain everything down. You can say, huh IDK, I had the batteries out to charge last night, would that cause a code?
well it still drives just that 3rd gear shifts "soft" unlike my other gears. I need to have the truck back by tomorrow because I never got charged yet for my deductible. I usually bring my truck to this dealer, so I guess they trust me? but back to the topic... If I unhook the batteries and turn the lights on for 15 minutes than drive for like 100 miles you think that code will still show up?
I guarantee that code will show up if you disconnect the batteries. Turning the lights on is just voodoo to make you feel like you're doing something. It doesn't need it's capacitors discharged to clear the codes like many people think.
P1000 means that not every self test has run since the last reset. Disconnecting the batteries causes a reset, so the P1000 will show up.
You only need one drive cycle to clear the P1000 IF that drive cycle allows every test to run. Many of the tests have specific conditions that have to be met before they will run. Holding a steady speed and steady go pedal position is key to many of them. Some of the tests require a steady 55 MPH with almost no movement on the pedal.
Yep loaded up the backpack with beer, hit the road last night drove 50 miles, and code was gone. Got the truck back to Ford at 1:30 this morning, never disconnected batteries though. You guys think I covered my ***?
