Ground Wire getting hot

Ground Wire getting hot

What is the silver ground wire do comes from the back side of the motor to the firewall on the passenger side, I have been having some problems starting in the cold 30 deg and went out this morning to check the gpr after trying to turn it over for a minute with the motor barely turning over that ground wire started smokin like crazy and got extremly hot, the truck is an 02 7.3 any help

A wire getting hot almost certainly means a bad connection. Yuo need to clean all of your main gonnections, both positive and negative, at the batteries, to the motor & starter and to the body as well. You should also clean the alternator connections.

While you are at it you should check and charge both batteries.

It may not be that wire either that is the problem there should be another else where, but now the wire you have found is doing the work for 2, instead of just is own.. just a thought.

Good advice,I lost my ground once and burned up my throttle cable that became the sole ground

Like the guys said, double check that all the connections are clean and that all the ground wires are there and connected.
