Boost

Whats involved in checking the boost?
What kind of guage, is it permenent or just a measurement guage?
Where does it hook up?

For a temp gauge all you need is an air pressure gauge and some air line, just "tee" into the rubber line between the map sensor and the intake plenum

I know "blue" meant a boost / pressure gauge....got a chuckle out of it though... how would that work? hooking up 1/8th inch plastic tubing to a temp gauge might be a neat trick...with those little ferrules and such.....got any pictures ?.... jus kiddin

Aw come on Scott..........I thought we were both on the same page here.

I wasn't even thinking of a temperature gauge, I meant "temp" as in temporary.

And how many lbs is good /OK?
When do you check it?
At a idle or how many rpm's?
I just happen to have a air guage and some line.

With a stock truck you should be somewhere between 12-18 or maybe 20 psi. Extend it out far enough so you can attach it to the wiper arm, mirror or tape it to the windshield where you can watch it as you drive. You won't see any boost at idle. The boost should rise with the rpm's. Just drive it around that way for a while to see what kind of boost you're making. Boost will be higher at WOT or while pulling a load or climbing a hill.

Blue Mule... I just couldnt resist... I like the picture.... now... thats a "temp" gauge if I ever saw one....doesnt get any better than that with those 500 mph zip ties and all.... I'd probably run off the road there while oooggling the dial while I had the pedal mashed to the floor... ha ha course.. the location you have is a good one.. you have a good view of the centerline on the road too.... but .... oops... lookout that sunday driver just slammed the brakes right in front of me ... ROFLMAO
Vinford.... how much boost depends on a lot of things, rpms and the amount of load on the engine and how much pedal, how healthy your engine is, turbo compressor fin condition etc.. under "normal" take off from a light or something, you'll likely see somewhere around 10 psi.. light throttle with no load going down the interstate.. probably about the same or maybe a little less... mash the throttle with a load you could see 15-25 with a stock turbo in good condition and no air leaks between the turbo and intake...again depending on engine rpms and loading at the time you put your foot in the floorboard. It would be a stretch to see 30 out of a stock turbo with no fueling mods or exhaust mods...

now.. if you look at the picture closely there is a dodge with likely a cummins in it behind Blue's ford.....they have a lil bigger turbo in em and build a lil more boost than our fords do, stock.... also look at the picture closely again... you'll see that that is a 100 psi gauge... but I doubt that the blue truck will twist it to that... even with the big fuel he has running through the sticks...I could be wrong... might be a great big wheezer under the hood. My pullin tractor used to make 130+ with three chargers and two injectors per cylinder...now... thats BOOST!

That turned out to be a "long term" "temp" gauge" I put it there over a year ago and it's still there. It's fuel pressure not boost

The H2E on the Ford moves more air than the HX35 on the 24V

What year is yer dodge there? I had a 95 12v with the opposite paint scheme... red hood and roof and black sides, bought it brand new..other than some minor mods like , killer dowl pin mod, cam plate and timing advance to 16 degrees from 10 on the pump and 240hp marine injectors in it, it was pretty close to stock... had 379,000 miles on it when I traded her off for my 97 psd. didnt use hardly any oil but the head gasket was starting to seep water under real hard loads...cant blame it none.... I loved it... but duallies are useless around here if it gets muddy. I never saw real mud til I moved here... this stuff wont even wash off with a pressure washer... leaves a nasty film even after the heavy stuff is gone ! makes instant huge slicks out of dually wheels...
Is the ford a shortbed 350?
