98 blower only works on High

Hello all,

I have a 1998 Mountaineer. The heater blower motor only works on high. No Low or Medium. Is there a variable resistor somewhere? Since the blower motor only has two wires, I'm thinking there should be something that changes it from 5v to 8v to 12v? (or whatever voltages?)
If this is the case, where should I look for this module?

Thanks in advanced and Happy Holidays!

yes there is a resistor block. they are normally connected to the hot air duct , under the glove box. lay on the floor and look up. normlly a 2 inch suqare plastic block with 3-4 wires on it, and a screw holding it to the hot air plenum. air keeps it cool.

Should be under the hood/passenger side & plugged into the plastic air duct with a 4 wire connector.

Yeah, a 98 "should" be under the hood. Same as my 97.

Are you needing one for the standard 4 speed blower, or the one for the EATC unit( electronic auto temp control)?, EATC resistors are HARD to come by. $183.00 ford only part...........If they have one, I had to go to 6 wrecking yards to find 1.

Yank it out and replace the thermal link, is either got hot or died of old age, looks like a diode. They are used in hairdriers, ect.

Check the blower housing for debris.
