I have a 2003 2wd Excursion (V10). I want to put a Fabtech 6" lift eventually but right now I am looking for a smaller lift to hold me over for a while. Looking for about 2-3 inches but I can't seem to find anything. Can you guys help me out here?
This has been asked many times (myself included) You can get a small lift by either add-a-leafs or get the F350 springs. I believe the F350 springs will give you 2 inches or so and you could add-a-leaf to those if you wanted.
On a 2wd I am not 100% sure but you would probably have to do a block lift on the front. I lifted my old X (2wd) with frame blocks. Would never do it again, it was done for free when I had to have frame work done and I dont think it was very safe.
I'm sure one of the guys on here will chime in and let you know how to get a small lift on the 2wds.
o damn.its 2wd.if it was 4 im getting rid of my 8" ranch pretty soon. but anyways,i THINK you can get a spacer kit for the springs.lifts it 2" or so,possibly even a cheap spindle lift which you can go 4" maximum without having different control arms/etc.someone correct me if im wrong but this is how my old truck used to be lifted, ive never lifted a 2wd X.

The "lift bug" has bitten you, I went through this are there is MUCH you need to know.
Myself, igotoneforya, and ieathybrids are the only 3 on here with lifted 2wd trucks. I always told them we'd start an empidemic.

Will the 8" rancho fit an 04' with a 5.4? I might be interested, if you'll ship?

To the OP; there is a spring spacer for the fronts on eBay for about $70. Get some add-a-leafs for the rear and that should give you the 2-3" you're looking for. Make sure you budget for an alignment w/new alignment cams. You'll need it afterward.

Do you send a pm by clicking on your name? If so, it's not giving me that option for some reason.

I am no expert, just wanted to give a suggestion. If this is temporary, and you dont want to waste money you may think about doing this. Put air bags on the rear, and coil spacers on front. My firestone bags give me an easy two inches at less than 60psi. When you do go to a larger lift in the future, you would still be able to keep your bags with some sort of blocks on your bag mounts( have seen other threads for using bags on a lift on this forum). With bags in the rear, you should have no problem matching the rear heigth to the front coil spacer heigth. Bags with on-board compressor installed should cost about $800, and you wouldnt need to get rid of them when you do lift in the future.
Thanks for the info. I will check out the thread on lifts and see what it says. I used to work in a front end / alignment shop so I am familiar with many issues and extra work needed when lifting a vehicle. I will probably do the work myself and then take it to the alignment shop.
