ok i ran a few more tests and my glowplugs read that i am getting power to them but i turned them on and it woodnt start so i turned it off and pulled a plug and it wasnt hot it was regular temperrature and i had just turned them off about 30 seconds before and they were as cold as when i checked them 5 minutes ago
Use an automotive test light.
Ground clip to positive battery terminal.
Remove each glow plug electrical connector one at a time.
Touch the tip of the testor to the glow plug electrical connector.
If the light lights, the glow plug is probably good, replace the wire and continue to the next one.
Repeat for all glow plugs.
ok il try that. just a ? after i fryed my wires that lead to my manual switch i found out i fryed a wire connector that had 6 or so wires and conected them to a few other wires that go directly to my glowplug wiring harness i cut the wires two at a time and connected them individually to their espective wires could that effect it? cause some of the connectors arent exactly the best match for the connections
Very common for it to melt, but usually only on the end with the large orange/white stripe wires(glow plug power).
That was probably the location of your problem.
I just looked above and see I forgot to have you inspect it.
Mine has been bypassed for five or six years now.
All of the wires go to the oil pressure sender, water temp sender, overheat switch, glow plug controller and ignition circuit.
Most of them have little draw, the ignition (red/green stripe) has the most since it goes to the glow plug controller, FSS, timing advance, fast idle and fuel line heater.
I soldered my glow plug wires, then covered them with shrink wrap tube.
The rest I used insulated spade terminals on so I could remove them easier.
When I want to pull the engine, I just unbolt the glow plug power wires from the relay.
u hit it on the head the bigger one melted so if i dont have power to my glowplugs then i imagine i dont have good connection to them? my truck ran good wen it started and all my gauges seem to b functioning so shood i assume i have good connections to the other wires?
