Question Leaf spring mount - BROKEN

I have a 1990 F250 and while under the truck I noticed the driver-side rear leaf spring mount is completely rusted in half and the leaf spring (at the mount closest to the tailgate) is no longer bolted to the frame. The bolt that connects the spring to the mount is actually lodged into the frame rail and holding the leaf spring in place. Has anyone ever had this issue happen? How much would it cost to fix?

Rockauto.com should have the spring hanger, probably around $25.00. However you will probably need new spring bush as well.
Check the other side as it may be on the way out. Probably a couple of hours per side to fit.

If you take the bed bolts out you can lift the bed up off the frame a bit, making the hanger much easier to work on. Just watch the wiring and fill hoses.

Now would be the time to replace the shackle bushings as well.

Check some of the threads; there's lots of info on this site. The worst part of the job is removing what's left of the old hanger. Notch an "X" in the heads of the rivets that attach hanger to frame with a cutoff wheel. Use an air chisel (or cold chisel) to cut off the rivet heads. Use a punch, or air chisel with awl type attachment to poke the remaining piece of rivet through the frame. If things get stubborn, use heat. Just watch the fact that the gas tank is nearby. Grade 8 hardware will put it all back together. Depending on how rusty things are, you may find that the bolt that attaches the leaf spring to the hanger is pretty well rust-welded into the metal sleeve that's inside the rubber bushing in the "eye" of the spring. At this point, I usually get frustrated and use the torch (Mapp will do) to burn out some of the rubber bushing and then I cut off the bolt. Add new bushings (Bronco Junkyard has a 2 piece one) and a new bolt and you're in business.
