My driverside window won't go down all the way. It get half way down and stops. I can push it down when I hold the button. It goes up just fine. When it's wet from rain, it goes down fine. Any suggestions?
I have a '99 F-250 that had the same problem and could not figure out what the problem was until the window did not go down at all. Take off the door panel and check the three bolts that hold the window guide inside the door. One or all three might be loose, with them being loose it puts the guide in a bind. Tighten all of them and see if that fixes your problen. When mine finally broke, the guide pulled the bolt and ripped the sheet metal which held everything tight. I did a little shade tree mechanic work on the door. I had an extra Handicap sign off a a job and I made a big washer that fit in the ribs of the door and then reinstalled the bolt. It has been working fine since Oct. Let me know if this works. Good Luck!
First pop off the black cover which hide the bolts for the mirror. Then lift up the door lock and window switches with a screwdriver. Once off you will see a 8mm bolt, top bolt, take out. Lower left corner of the door where the courtesy light cover take off, another 8mm bolt, take out. Now lift the plastic panel up ward once it is off the door pass or feed the lock/window switches through the hole. place the plastic door panel where it will not get damaged. I can not remember but if there is a thin plastic cover on the door pull it to you see the bolts. They are located from the center to the upper right of the door. To reistall the panel first pass the switch block throught the same hole then aline the lock **** in the slot at the top of the panel. Then slide the panel down so all of the catches catch in the holes in the door. Somrtimes it takes a couple of time until you aline uo right. retighten the twoo 8mm bolts and snap the switch block back in and the same with the black mirror cover. I hope I describe it OK. I have taken the panels off a few times, changing speakers and lock accuraters.
Same problem with my driver door on my F250. After washing, it goes down fine. I figured the seal was just too dried out. I'll have to pull the panel when it's not so freakin' cold out.
Even though 5150 man described it in words...here's a pictorial in case anyone wanted to see how to do it. I keep this page bookmarked because it does an excellent job of walking thru this process.
Thanks X_Hemi_Guy. Like you said I described it in words, I guess I was pretty close except for the 8mm bolts. HA HA. I hope both threads help all that has this problem.
