Brakesmart is top notch but expensive.

P3 is very good and not that expensive.

When I bought my truck it had a older tekonsha, I thought it worked OK, but then I read some reports on the p3 and decided to upgrade. I really like the digital readout being able to tell at a glance what brake power level that it is set at. I also seems to brake much smoother.

What part of Mexico are you going to visit?
If you can afford buy the brakesmart, but the P3 is very good, I have one and works very well here in the mountains in Mexico.
