Hi all,
I'm looking at a gauge set so I can get a DP tuner. I was looking on dieselmanor.com (no specific reason why, if there is a cheaper/better source, please suggest it) and I saw the Isspro set. There is a $17 option for "weatherpack" thermocouple. Is it worth it? I figure because of the really low voltages of a thermocouple, a little corrosion could really be annoying. Is this what a weatherpack would prevent, is it necessary? Also, is there any reason to get the Isspro set over Autometer (cheaper) or DiProcol?
Thanks,
Jack

I have the same gauges from Diesel manor, and I like them. I don't have the K&N, you shouldn't either, because there are reasons why we don't run that filter. The weatherpack is an option, you don't have to get it. Both Isspro and Autometer are good gauges. Pick and install. .
For the DP-TUNER, it's good to have a good intake, exhaust, gauges, and a VB. Then the DP will give you the big grin.

I bought the Isspro package from Diesel Manor and love it. The gauges match the factory ones and the instructions for the install were excellent. The weatherpack option gives you a more finished look like it was a factory installed wire. I live in eastern PA where they salt the crap out of the roads and my EGT has worked just fine with the standard bolt connections.
Sounds good guys. I think I might spring the few extra $ for the factory look of the Isspros. Miller, what is a VB? Oh, I have heard about how bad the K&Ns are, I'm just procrastinating on a 6637. I'll get it before the gauges and DP.
Thanks
Jack

VB= Valve Body. I have the BTS-VB. This is something that can save the life of your trans and makes our trans shift better. It's smething you need to tell DP that you have so the chip can be tuned for it. Also, if you tell Brian you have a DP, he will tune the VB for the chip. This is something you can do yourself, messy, but easy.
Hmmm. Sounds cool, but I use the truck to tow horses. They don't like a hurkey-jurkey ride. Do you know anyone with a VB that tows horses?
I tow more then you can imagine. Thats why I have the VB, because I tow. You have the wrong idea on the shifting. Look at most of the sigs on here and you will see what most have.
Any thoughts? Should I get the VB before the DP and tell him that I'm planning on a DP? Also, can DP adjust the shift firmness for each tune level? So, if I wanted firm shifts in the 80e tune but soft shifts in a tow tune, could they do that? I have heard other people say that they like John Wood VBs better. Any comments on that?
Thanks,
Jack
OK. So, in "seat of the pants" terms, what kind of changes in ride does the VB cause?
I've ridden in trucks with the VB or transgo shift kit. SOTP, you can feel the shifts, as in noticeable at each shift even at hard acceleration, but not a jerky or bucking shift that would bother the horses.
