Truck came with ISSPRO 607 (1200 degree) 2 with bad thermocouple installed post turbo. I replaced thermocouple. It also came with a 606 (1500 degree) 3" in box but no thermocouple. I want to get new thermocouple and install in driver side exhaust manifold.
Question? Is it safe to drill and tap 1/2" hole in exhaust manifold, or do I need to order more expensive thermocouple that only needs 1/4" hole.
I want to have both installed at same time so I can get differances for locations. I will post when done. Then sell 1 of the pyros.
I wouldnt think it would harm anything to drill a 1/2" hole in the manifold, question...why are you drilling a 1/2" hole, I thought all thermocouples were 1/4"...
Thermocouple itself is actually a little less than 1/8" but the mount for it is 1/4" NPT which actually requires 7/16 drill bit (sorry off a little there). they do make a thermocouple that uses 1/8" NPT 11/32 bit, but cost more and is harder to find, found it but the site doesn't tell you shipping until you place order, that scares me.
