hey guys i been thinkin since i got my truck back from the dealer over a mon ago when the replaced egr cooler, oil cooler, flushed system 3x and all hoses can any recommend a top quality coolant filter system designed exclusively for the 6.0 mine is a 05 and where to get one for a reasonable price, do they have see through filters available or just the standard spin on looks like a oil filter type?
thanks for the help again.
I recently put on a coolant filter system from dieselsite (http://www.dieselsite.com/index.asp?...ROD&ProdID=324). This is a great kit for $119. I also bought the ball valves for $18. They have a sturdy bracket designed for the 6.0, well machined parts, and high quality hose. It was an easy installation. The filters are the spin on type. You can buy them from dieselsite, eBay, local parts store, anywhere that sells coolant filters.
Got mine from DieselSite.com. I think they're a sponsor of this site. I've been very pleased with it. Very well designed and install looks factory. If you go with this, I'd also get the ball valves. Makes changeout of the filter pretty much mess free. The filter is similar to a spin on oil filter. Hope this helps. Below is the link to the filtration system.
does anyone here have this one also? i checked this one out also it is a bit more expensive but includes 3 filters if that means anything, is this a good coolant filter ?

This looks like the exact same kit as on the Dieselsite website. The only difference I can see is the brand of filter (doesn't make a difference here), and the dieselsite kit machines an alumini tee adapter for the connection on the engine. This reduced the weight, hence less strain, on the factory hose.
does anyone else make these filters other than these 2 manufacturers, i am trying to stay in a 125-180 price range?
Not sure what you are asking. The dieselsite kit is $119, another $18 if you want the ball valves, this is a total investment of $137 minus taxes and shipping. This kit comes with the filter. This fits your prices range.
Just installed the Dieselsite kit on my '06. Bought the kit, shut-off valves and 2 extra filters (3 total) with shipping like $168. Went in fairly easy, looks good, hopefully will help the engine last a lot longer. BTW, that other kit looks almost identical to what I got. You want cheaper, you can probably get it a little cheaper if you shop around for the individual parts. Valves at Home Depot, hose at auto parts store, filters and base at tractor supply company, maybe some scrap aluminum or sheet steel and a bench vise or brake to make your own bracket, miscellaneous hardware, and you could save 20 or 30 bucks. Is it worth it? Not for me it wasn't - so I just bought the kit. Well worth the $ to me.
