Battery heat shield????

Replaced my batteries recently and the cover ( heat shield?) going around the battery on the passenger side needs replacing. Have no idea what the official name of this part is... can someone tell me so I can look up for a replacement.

Thanks.

According to the shop manual it's called a battery cover.

Thanks, but its not the "cover"... This item is like a sleeve around the battery.

It is considered a heat shield or wrap, but I've never been able to get one from a dealer.

I bought a couple on ebay a while ago. Try Battery blanket , cover , or heat shield in your search.

Maybe in very cold areas. Not so much in warmer places. I wouldn't bother with it unless you find being without it causes a problem.

I read somewhere that this may be more for keeping the heat from the engine away, than cold from the weather. ????

I understood it as in really cold places, the battery will self discharge and the heatshield will hold in a little bit of heat so you have a better chance of starting it in the morning.

jmbaker3, You are correct, the battery wraps are for keeping engine heat out of the battery.

Summint racing has them, however they are pricey.
