Smile exhaust replacement

Hi All- So I just replaced the original cat. conv., muffler, and tail pipes on my 93 f350,460, with Walker OEM style replacement parts. Not exactly the same, but pretty much have it installed. The cat. came with a heat shield, and I was able to swap the heat shield from the old muffler onto the new one. My question is are all the shields banded onto the original tail pipes, and the shields on the clamps and hangers really needed? I don't do any driving in hay fields! Seems a little over the top with the heat shields

Heat shields more importantly prevent heat from getting to parts on your truck like rubber hangers or other places that could catch fire.

Heat will also dry out the rubber hangers reducing their rubberiness.

They add so little extra weight I'd move them over if they are removeable.

your heat shields arent going to add noticeable weight to a truck.

So I just notice a label on the new Walker tailpipes. They are made with a double wall, heat shield with inner pipe. I thought they looked odd.Looked like they were made in 2 pcs. Pretty slick. OEM shields not needed. Good thing, they are in rough shape.
