Battery heat shield?

Battery heat shield?
Hi Fellas,
I noticed in my 2006 FoMoCo Workshop Manual, Volume 1, section 414--01-4, it talks about, "Remove the battery heat shield (if equipped)".
Apparently not ALL Rangers were equipped with a heat shield. I'm guessing they may have only been in the 6-cylinder, many options Rangers....
Does anyone know what determined which models / options did get the battery heat shield?
