$4900
2001 V10 126k miles
Truck is in pretty good shape. Bought from a dealer in PA. He was pretty upset that it only rent for 4900. Had 1 bad coil pack, new but cheesy tires, drivers door has a rattle when closing. Otherwise pretty good. Did however do shocks. exhaust manifold bolts, springs, rear sway bar, wheel bearings, ball joints, all tie rods, tires, all hoses, serp belt and fluids. Most of what I have done was not really needed but trying to address all the kown issues with these beasts. she does have 131k on her now and most parts were original. Have to say feel like got a good deal.

my 2005 Excursion

Here's my recent purchase, with a little extra experience:

2005 Limited Excursion, 4x4 6.0L PSD
Black ext/Tan int, bench rear seat
DVD, etc, no mods, 72k miles at time of purchase
$24,000 - purchased early September 2008

Looking back, I may have paid a little too much, but this was a one owner vehicle, owned by a guy who works at a Ford Transmission plant here in the Cincinnati are, always owned Fords of course and very up on maintenance, garage kept, etc... So, he was asking $28k which he knew was too much and we came to terms at $24k.

This is my SECOND 2005 Excursion, was hit in May, had my original (purchased new during Family - Employee pricing). It took me a couple months for them to total the vehicle, started tearing it down, had some frame dmg, buckle in the roof line and floor panel under in couple place, bent front axle and damaged transfer case, I knew it needed to be totalled, but took some convincing to the ins company.... Not at fault for me, so other ins company and my wife was 38 weeks pregnant at the time. We all walked away (wife, me and 2 other kids), but I'm sure they were worried I'd sue for all kinds of crap, so we agreed on KBB retail for my car, I guess you could say I came out pretty good. Although my original X only had 55k miles, my $$ investment is much lower now for essentially the same vehicle. Market values are truly down, and the insurance companies know that, they don't have to pay KBB or NADA, they only have to pay proven market replacement cost, and will do research depending on the adjuster. I was cut some slack in return for signing a medical release after having my wife checked out, but don't count on getting "book" from an insurance company, esp if the accident is your fault. (I used to be a prop/cas ins agent by the way).

That being said, as soon as they towed my X off, and saw what the car looked like that hit me, I knew I'd have another one once we settled. In fact my kids started begging for another Xbox...Just hope I'm not a target again!

It's a gas engine. We bought an extended warrwnty. I,m really happy that we did! I had to do a panic stop. The truck was all over the place! The dealer honored the warranty and just about rebuilt the whole front end. We had some bumping and banging in the front end that turned out to be a wheel bearing problem that was affecting the 4 wheel system. They also fixed that. Moral of the story is to get the warranty. Any of these problems could have ruined our great deal! Price of repairs was more than price of Ford Co. warranty. Peace of mind "Priceless"!

Those 2000 7.3 4x4 X's with around 100K miles bought for $10K sure were good buys. Only year X with the forged rod motor 7.3.

The other day called a salvage company on a 99 DRW Lariat LE and the dealer said the values are starting to go up a little with lower fuel prices.

87 octane in my area is 1.59 a gallon while diesel is $2.29 a gallon.

Using my "Stop & Shop" card shopping points I have paid $1.019 and $1.459 per gallan on my last two fillups! I average between 11.5mpg and 12mpg. so any help I can get is appreciated. I drive this 2000 "Ex" all the time so that I don't repeat history where my big tow vehicles sit and "decay"! We live by the ocean so all the vehicles have to be rotated constantly or brakes, etc. get a coating of rust! We have actually had wheels on a front wheel drive vehicle have to be "broken" free by backing up then driving foward! Avery expensive sound when broke loose! We got lucky that time as there was no damage!
