Delay Going Into Reverse
Hey, On My 04 F-350 i've noticed a slight delay while shifting from drive to reverse. This Truck has a 8.5' snowplow and plows about 40 driveways everytime it snows. is something going wrong in the valve body?

It happens in all my 6 of my plow trucks and my personal truck.
Some people say its normal others disagree.
I havn't heard anything convincing me to think its abnormal.

Mine does it sometimes, but it seems like it happens when I shift from drive to reverse before coming to a full stop. When I am patient and wait until I have stopped before shifting to reverse, there is no delay.

I was talking to the local town road forman and they have 03 f550 6x6 with a 6.0l Anf the 5spd auto, he said the first two years there truck had a delay than ford rebuilt the valve body and it shifts fine now... i guess im going to have a call the dealer.

You are correct. The TorqShift does not have a valve body.

My 04 F-350 did it ocasionally, sometimes worse than others. at 270,000 miles i have learned to live with it.

The only way to know is to drop the oil pan (next oil change) and look for debris. My 05' had the delay when a bearing failed, ate up a lot of stuff. If your pan is clean, no shavings you may have a defective or sticking solenoid (my 2004 had solenoid issues).
