My 2003 PS was leaking antifreeze from the back of the motor.
So I got under there to check it out and the water trail looked like it was coming down from in between the head and the block on the drivers side, just a little trickle. But after it warmed up it quit leaking all together and has not done it since, and I've run it hard and checked it all temperatures.
Are there any hoses or pipes back there that could have been the source of this leak
There is a small flex hose on the EGR cooler that were known to leak (red hose) the updated hoses are blue.It is in the valley on the passengers side about the middle of the motor. If your hose is red it is very likely the source of the leak.
Nothing is easy to get to on a 6.0l. lol I changed mine with the motor on the floor. It shouldn't be too bad if you took the turbo off to give you lots of room. There are no clamps it is a twist to lock. Someone else who has done it with the motor on the truck may chime in.
Bottom pic.At the end of the arrow#2 ,about 2" closer to the middle (truck not pic) and a litter deeper is a 3 or so inch rubber hose. Page 13: Component Locations
I believe that's the same one. The water heater hose(or atleast that's what we used when mine blew off(don't ask, I'm still pissed on how that job was done) acts as a coupler when it attaches to the nipple on the egr cooler(if it is in same one I'm thinking off, I really need to see that with the truck around it as that' how we did the repair). It can be gotten to without pulling stuff. What's the diameter of the hose if you happen to know right off hand?
Its about 1" outside. Its a goofy design for sure.
Would you say about 5/8s on the inside diameter? If so, then he should be able to see it from the top and if it's loose there, then it should be a simple fix. 10-15 min max (I have big hands so it takes me longer then someone with smaller hands).
I wouldn't try to change it without removing the turbo, but I can get the turbo off in 20 min and drink a beer at the same time.LOL It took 13 dozen to do all my motor mods and the clutch.
