I have a 2000 F250 with 7.3 PSD-always started right away with out problem- it has been sitting for a couple of weeks- today I went to start it and it had to crank over for several seconds before it fired up- after it fired all seemed normal- after it warmed- I shut it off and started it again- same thing- it had to crank for several seconds( about 5-7) before it fired- no other symptoms- any ideas????
Make sure your batteries have enough cold cranking amps as well atleast over 800.
Replaced the batteries in my 02 and the old ones were rated for 750CCA. The new ones are rated for 850CCA (cold cranking amps). My 97 has the 750CCA in them, but the new ones will be 850CCA.

Mine has started doing the same thing. I noticed it Thursday after I got fuel. I checked my batts about a month ago.(just to get ready for winter) I was chalking this up to bad fuel, but I will check my batts tomorrow.
I just put the truck on the battery charger for the night- we'll see what happens- I was also wondering about fuel- I'm just under 1/4 and dont often let it get that low
How cold is it in the morning? How long do you let the glow plugs burn before you start cranking?
Tomorrow will be about 30 degrees in the am- I usually click the glow plugs on then click them on again before starting to crank the motor- I havent changed my starting proceedure in years-I adjust for the outside temps- and today-even with the motor warmed up- it still took a while to fire
I checked my batts separately today. Both were a little higher than 12 volts without a load. Under a load, 1 dropped to 10 volts and the other dropped to almost 9. So next weekend I'll be replacing them. I also checked my alt. It's putting out 14.4.
I put the batteries on the charger for the night- had the same issue in the morning- took a little longer than normal to fire- then ran to the gas station and put gas in- ran the truck around for about 20 minutes and since then-its been fine- who knows!!
