there are two styles. DEI makes both and the universal should be the cheapest. The universal setup requires a key to be installed in the bypass and tucked up under the dash. It looks like PN29402 from directed's online store is $40.
lucky you, I just put a PATS bypass in my 00 X and now i can remote start my truck, but most of all it was too simple to install and requires no key left in the truck, plus cheap too. I used the DEI 555FW IMMOBILIZER REMOTE START BYPASS FORD and you can get these on ebay or just doing a search of the internet.
That's the nice way to do it, but it's typically more expensive. If you can swing it, it worth the cash not to have a key hiding in your dash. Decent thieves will know what to look for and the programmable bypasses offer another layer protection.
enough said, the DEI 555FW IMMOBILIZER REMOTE START BYPASS FORD only works with a remote start/alarm system. If a thief finds this little device, they will not be able to start the truck anyway because the PATS system is still active.
As for price it's pretty cheap( 25-30 bucks) and too easy to program, oh yeah you will need two(2) keys w/the chip in them to program the device and after that your up and running
Not so much true on what a thief can do. It can be activated by hand, but not unless you know what your doing. A thief/installer with that much experience will get by most anything you throw at them though.
Thanks for all of the input. I ordered mine from ebay....I got the programmable bypass module for $17 with shipping so I came out wayyy ahead. Again thanks all. Alarm goes in on Tuesday with remote start...
