Cool Right bank dead

01 Supercrew 5.4L A week ago truck wouldn't start for the wife, When I showed up it started just fine. Last night truck was running fine, stopped at stop sign and she dies. Get it cranked and limped back home. So far this is what I have found and done. Changed fuel filter, checked fuel pressure both good. When I do get it to run the passenger side exhaust is stone cold and the drivers is too hot to touch. Seems one side is dead. Unplugged each injector on that side one at a time still same thing. It also rattles real bad, just on that side. What can effect one whole side ???? I need this thing to go out of town on Monday, need some suggestions bad.

Thanks in advance
mike

Only thing I can think of is that you lost a power feed to either the injectors (red wire) or the COPs (red/lt green) on the dead bank. Get the meter out and check for power the suspect power feeds. Cross check with the working bank. Power for either the injectors or COPs might be easily lost to a single bank is a single circuit fails.

Which bank are you referring to as the "right" bank? In Ford parlance, "right" is the passenger side (cylinders 1-4).

I have an 04 250 5.4L. Ater a dealer mistake (rag left in lower hose) I was on the highway and it overheated as soon as the temp went up it went into limp mode and was only running on the left side. It did throw a code after I read it the code was a temp. sender in I think the head that would put it into limp to protect the engine from damage due to the overheat. Just a thought maybe a bad sender.

I have power to the injectors and COPs (12.8V) on the right bank (passenger side) Now what, anyone have something else that will only effect the one side????? When I get it to run that side is stone coldn and smells like it is running real rich. Is there a relay maybe affecting that one side, O2 sensor maybe.

Can the dealer check the PCM if I pull it out? Or what else can I pull for them to check.

does anyone have a clue?? I have power and pulses to each COP on the rt side, I have power and pulses to the injectors on the rt side, pistons are going up and down as far as I can tell, pulled off exhaust still the same, swapped cam position sensors still the same THE RT BANK IS DEAD ?????????? Pulled valve cover and the cam is turning chain looks fine. I have fuel enough to run the left side fine, could the regulator shut off one and not the other??? I won't be able to check the other side or can there be enough pressure just to run one side and not the other??? I haven't checked fuel pressure yet and can't until Thursday.

check coil primary wire to see if battery voltage drops out .you will need a meter
that can graph or min/max feature. should always have batt voltage will run or key on.

hummm it has to be something electrical, mechanical would not be intermittent like that. I just put the 5.4l in my supercrew same year and it sort of did the same thing at first but the right side was running and the left side was dead and I did what you did. I just kept running it and eventually it came to life on all eight once the comp. figured things out. I do use my own scan tool though also. What codes are you getting? You have to be getting something.

Timing gear sheared on cam when it locked up in head, changed head and all was fine until oil pressure dropped and engine locked up. Could see gear moving when valve cover was lifted up a little bit didn't find out cam was locked until I pulled cover off all the way and saw cam itself was not moving, now need a 200-2001 motor.
