ford gears any good

I've also read they're the quietest, I think they are more polished so they takes less break in time. Its hard to beat Ford gears on pricing though...well unless you want to pay less. I have a set of Yukon 4.30s waiting to go on at home, they were way cheaper than Ford and are good quality.
Another thing, I think Ford gears are actual 10.5" gears while all aftermarket are actually 10.25", but I could be wrong.

In general, they are more likely to "match up" to the existing pinion depth and ring backlash shims. The pinion depth is set with a gauge (dummy pinion), so Ford's pinions are all the same length/depth.
I'd imagine that aftermarket sets aren't as consistent, possibly needing some adjusting of shims after assembly and checking the gear contact pattern.
But who knows until you try it. If you're having them installed by a shop, get whatever they recommend, or whatever you like price-wise. MAKE SURE they do a gear contact pattern check. Might want to have them call you when they have it done and take pictures

I'd be willing to be that ford buys their gears from AAM just like chevy does. Years ago, we compared a set of motives (made by AAM) to a brand new set of chevy gears. The stamping on the pinions were identical, the only difference was the packing and box. Ford doesn't make every part they sell/use, AAM is a pretty big name in gears. They produce for several brand names, including Motive and Yukon.

From FTE/PARTS-GUY, the rear pinion is pretty cheap at around $238 if it's a SRW truck.
The front is around $450, and like someone said, they wouldn't be "Ford" anyway but Dana, which is probably why the big price difference, they are reselling someone else's gears.
Definitely check out our sponsors, and FTE/PARTS-GUY for OEM Ford stuff at a big discount.
