Does anybody know what weight gear oil you are suppose to use in the
8.8. third member. Its under a 93 F150 , I looked in the owners manual and it doesn't say. I would think 80w 90w would be alright but
its hard to say with this late model stuff. I also noticed in my shop
manual that the E4OD uses 16 qts of ATF, this is on a dry fill right?
not a regular change. Thanks

Drain your converter when you change the ATF and you will use 15-16 qt.

If you have a Trak-Lok 8.8, you will need the special friction modifier additive with the 80W90 gear oil change. Some oils, like Castrol Hypoy (conventional) and Mobil One (synthetic) claim that they are for limited slip axles.
