Hi everyone!
I'm new to the forums. I'm from the Worc area. You can call me Daisy. Obviously I'm not a dude. 😆
Welcome aboard Daisy......good to have you around doooooooddddd!!! Sorry...you've been exposed to my warped sense of humor in just your first week on FTE!!! Feel honored...I usually make people wait!!!
All kidding aside...don't be a stranger...hope to meet you at a GTG in the future!!!
As the newest member, I'd just like to say Hello and thank you for accepting me and I look forward to arguing the merits of snow with Ken.
A little about me, I'm 42, originally a Rhode Islander, spent 10 years in the Navy playing with gatling guns and radars, tried my hand at civilian life in NC for a few years before getting the itch and coming back to New England in 2009.
My Ford truck is a 1971 F-350 DRW, 360FE V8, C6 3-speed, Dana 70 with 4.10's, OEM Power steering, power brakes, and front discs, and not a spot of rust on the frame. It currently has 112,000 miles on the clock, leaks like a sieve, and is twice as much truck as I could ever need (with the exception of the time I put almost 3000lbs of lumber in her as shown in the photo). I would put most of this in a signature if I could just figure out how to do that.
ETA: This wasn't the photo I had intended to post, but it's a good one so I'll leave it. If you want to see her carrying 1.5 tons of lumber without a hint of squat, I posted that photo in the main forum "Introduction" thread.
Welcome Joe...the truck looks amazingly clean for 36 years old. Did you get it in New England...or...did it follow you from NC??? My father also was a Navy vet...WWII.
This will be your last warning about the "S" word...not allowed in any shape or form...in any MA forum!!! You've been warned...twice now...next time...it'll co$t you!!!

Thanks Chad and Ken.
Ken, I'm the 3rd owner, and according to the title, both previous owners have MA/NH addresses (Billerica, MA was where she seems to originate from) so I believe she's spent her entire time here. With only 110,000 miles when I got her in Dec last year I wouldn't be surprised to learn CT was the furthest south she's ever seen. The previous owner said the original owner had the chassis oiled and that he also it 2 or 3 times (and from the looks of it, I believe him), which did an absolutely beautiful job of protecting the frame. The reason he gave me for selling it was that he builds race cars but runs Chevy's (ugh) so he was finally tired of owning/working on a Ford. I believe it was because the transmission was starting to go and he just didn't feel like rebuilding it (of course it was working just fine when I bought it, but now it's starting to act up so that's why I think this). I'm not upset, though. Considering the condition of everything else, a transmission rebuild is a small price to pay for such a sweet truck.
As for the s-word, I'm not sure what you could get from me, I'm broke. Wife and kids are all but camped in my wallet haha. I'll be my best to contain usage, though. Hopefully my magic worked and you were not hit with any this weekend. Stay warm!
It has the original 3 speed C6 and I'd like to keep it with the truck. If a swap is a lot cheaper, it isn't out of the question, but they ain't gettin' my core. I know it isn't as important in trucks to keep the numbers together, but I also see that that's changing. Simply put I don't want to be the guy 10-20 years from now finding out I flushed thousands of dollars in value down the tube by trading out the original tranny. As she sits, all the numbers match. She even has her original cab corners and cowel with neither showing any rust! The inner fenders have been replaced, though.
The main thing I use it for is hauling sheep to and from 4H fairs, and picking up sheep feed, chicken feed, and hay. Nothing too heavy duty, but I like that it can do the heavy duty if needed. I tend to say "more truck than I could ever need" but that isn't quite true considering I've already put close to 1.5 tons in the bed once.
Hey everyone, my name's Finn. I'm a new F-150 owner from the Boston area. I sold my '01 Corolla and bought an '86.
It's a little tougher on the wallet, but that's a small price to pay to start this up every morning. I look forward to gaining a bit of knowledge from this group!
