I finally got around to re-installing my flashilight today after I finished the turn signal mirrors. Originally the flashlight was mounted on the driver side kick plate by my seat. The problem was everytime I closed the door it moved the flashlight so it wouldn't charge. I taped into some wires under the kick plate that only turn the charger on when the key is on. It was a pain in the butt to run the wire but I think it's worth it.
Looks great. I have my stinger mounted to the dash just beside the little useless trash bag hook thingy. Drilled small hole ran the wires into the dash then to the fuse block.
No. I drilled a hole from inside the box at the pivot point. I took the trim piece off the left side of the center seat. There are two screws at the bottom. You lift the trim piece up and then away. It's still connected to the seat belt but you can pull it out of the way. I pushed the wire through the hole in the inside of the box. I got my finger in the pivot area and pushed the foam down. Theres a metal lip. I curled my finger around the lip and got ahold of the wire. (PITA, took about 15 minutes before I got it.) I ran the wire down the metal frame on the driver side of the center seat. I covered with the trim piece so it wouldn't be seen. I ran the wire under the rear mounting plate of the driver seat to the kick plate where the wiring is connected. I can take a pic of the wire I connected to though.
I don't fold my seat up that often however I did check and it didn't appear to be binding on my wires at all. I wish Ford would have put a power point in the box originally.
Here's my power and ground connection. Sorry it's pitch black outside. I went to Ford and ordered a new kick plate today. It will be here tommorrow ($28) since I drilled into the other one.
I have my stinger mounted to the carpeted section between the kick plate and the drivers seat. been there for 40,000 miles+ and havent had any problems. Best little flashlight Ive ever had. been in at least 5 trucks. I always wire mine hot all the time.
kinda off topic..... but has anyone reomved the inner plastic tray from under the center console lid? i wanna somehow mount a 12V power source inside the center console, and want it like somewhat flush with the inside of the plastic tray.... any thoughts guys?
