97 F250 2 wheel drive only mods so far cOOns 10K and 6637 filter. Sometime it won't start in Park have to pull it down to Neutral not always, if I park on a small incline let truck roll to engage in Park it is ok. Does this act like a linkage adjustment on something in the column? Checked the Torx screws under dash and they are both tight. Thanks for any insight.
It could be the linkage out of adjustment, but I'll bet it's the Transmission Range Sensor (TRS) is worn out. There are thin contacts that wear. If it wears enough it doesn't make contact and you have a no crank. The TRS is on the driver's side of the trans where the shifter linkage attaches. There is a wiring harness plugged into it.
You are correct. there is an adjustment in the column. I believe it is uder it near the dash. I am not an auto guy but som others here are more familiar with the problem.
Sounds like the Park/Neutral switch on the trans is out of adjustment. Check in this manual (1996 Bronco/F-Series Workshop Manual) under transmission, then under Section 07-05: Transmission, Automatic, External Controls ,then under ADJUSTMENTS: Transmission Shift Control Cable and Bracket .
Once you have insured the the cable/bracket is properly adjusted, check under Section 07-14B: Park/Neutral Position (PNP) Switch, then under ADJUSTMENTS Park/Neutral Position (PNP) Switch.
Thanks to all will get it in the shop tomorrow night and check it out will post finding and hope that it will be fixed. Mark is the TRS a replaceable sensor that I can get at dealership?

Yes it replaceable and available at most parts stores. I am having the same issue and I have just been shoving the shifter up to start. Gonna have to look at it soon cause its getting old!
Know the feeling TJ it has only been doing it for about 2 weeks but is a real PIA. Going down the the fire station tomorrow night (oldest daughter is a firefighter) they have a heated garage with a lift it is a bit chilly today 35* do not feel like doing it in my unheated garage.
