Parking brake light is on???

So my 2000 Ex started showing the parking brake light as if the parking brake was on...however it is not. Anyone run into this? How, or what do I need to do to fix it?

Thanks,

Trevor

Perhaps the e-brake switch could also be not contacting pedal, thus vehicle "thinks" ebrake pedal is pushed

I'll say again:

CHECK YOUR BRAKE FLUID.

From the 2000 Excursion owner's guide:

The rubber stopper on your brake pedal arm can pop out and that leaves a hole that the switch fits nicely through. But like Tom said.... check you fluid heh heh.

Your fluid is fine, check the sensor.

Check your fluid too.

Does it go off when you 'flick' the brake release lever?

Checked the fluid...Little low, but nothing bad. Topped off. Thanks for the other options, I shall look into those in the next couple days.

No it does go off if I flick the lever

Thanks!

Check out the rubber stopper, it gets smashed up and doesn't press the switch. you can also unplug the connector at the switch to see if the light goes out.

I think your return e-brake spring is getting weak and won't allow the rubber bumper to push in (engage) the off switch. With you hand engaging the brake release, work the e-brake pedal up and down one inch from off (all the way up). Does the pedal return tight up against the switch on it's own? See pic.

Ok...I checked all of the recommendations you guys had and it worked. Not sure which item it was, but it was one of them.

Thanks again for all the help!
