Hate to bring bad news ,,but you have the wrong flywheel..I own a starter and alternator rebuild shop and have been down this road several times.If possible the best cure would be to get a starter,and flywheel from another truck.

Before you start pulling stuff apart. Count the teeth on the fly wheel in the truck and the one you got from the junk yard. If you pull stuff apart. check and make sure that you have the proper spacer if you do pull stuff apart.

Wish I had more time on my hands Warrensburg is only about an hour and a half from here.

i went to Pick and Pull today and i got a flywheel but no starter. There wasnt a starter on it. The transmission was already dropped, so it was only a few bolts to get it off...
I was in a hurry and all i got was the flywheel.... was there a spacer that i was supposed to get also? I hope not or i hope that Oreillys has one....

I got an interchangeable list from the front desk and it said that a flywheel from a 91 Automatic Explorer..... i hope that they were right! lol... I will get out there early tomorrow morning and start doing some work..... wish me luck!

Not on my manual transmission.

> said that a flywheel from a 91 Automatic Explorer..

flywheel = manual transmission
flex plate = automatic transmission

flywheel = solid piece of metal

flex plate = thin gauge steel with spaces with a ring in the middle

Do you have an automatic or standard transmission?

You can't have a "flywheel" with an "automatic", it is a flex plate. Maybe this is why nothing is lining up.
