Certain paramaters have to be met before diagnostics can be run by the ECM. Each DTC has its own set of parameters that must be met before the diagnostics are even run. They depend upon a bunch of inputs, for instance, coolant temp, vehicle speed, engine load, trans range, plus TONS more.
Next question should I just forget it and drop the dummy, is it doing more harm than good or is it doing more good than harm...I know that there are a lot of guys doing something similar and rave about it, but since mine is under warranty untill 2011, I don't want to do something that's irreversible or at least not easily swithced back, tha's why I thought this might buy me more time between EGR valves.
Well that topic is really debatable and unfortunatley I dont have the "sure" answer. I personally havent tried to drive the truck with a low flow situation, so dont know the affects. I do know first hand, that when I simply unplugged the EGR valve the truck was very sluggish and didnt reach full boost. Alot of guys will argue this, and say it doesnt affect performance. But for me it did. In my opinion, the exhaust flow really needs to be taken out of the picture to really make any of it worth while.
Thanks, I realize that also, but considering my situation, warranty and all that's where it sits now; that's a little beyond my comfort zone.
I am assuming if I have any on-road problems I can just plug in the brand new EGR that's already installed and be back on the road without any hitch?...or am I worng on that too?
I don't know, I have an 05 scurge with a 04 build motor. I unplugged mine and I got a light. However............. It ran better for in town driving, I have a gadge and the turbo pressure did not seem to change, if anything the pressure built quicker. I am out of warrenty soon and will do a delete kit but thought I could plug in the old one until I got a tune package to take car of the light. I have a scanner so I cleared the code...... It came back after I unplugged it again. I currently have it plugged in, and have cleared the codes. I want to get rid of the scoop in the up pipe before I do anything else.
