ok let me correct myself to do a 1ton SAS on a STOCK ranger might be a little over board or one that you dont run through 5.78927 feet of mud on a daily basis
and i dont want a d60 because they are too expensive for me at the time and im not goin over 36s anyway and i dont try to kill my truck so a d44 is fine and i already have one of them found...with all other parts i need pulled out of the donor for 400ish
Is a pass side drop t-case normal on a ranger? Or did they put in something from a chevy? Or should I lay off the crown?
Nah, you guys are seeing that correctly. See the Lo-max 3:1 low range kit for a 205 is only available in the pass side drop, so in order to obtain all of the advantages of the doubler and the 3:1 kit, some chebby stuff has to be used. This means that the front axle has to be a pass side drop Dana 60F.
Yes it is a chebby, but it is well worth it for the benifits it offers.
We are seeing more and more ford guys running 3:1 divorced pass side drop t-cases, and chebby front axles. Talk about a cheap way to get a great ratio and decent front axle. Around here, these are about half the cost of a driver side D60F.
As far as the front wheel well, the rear uses a bushwacker pocket style flare. Notice the rear axle has been re-located. That flare is for a full size rig. The front os a flared fiberglass fender. Desert race style.
This is a handbuilt all custom ranger. Neat little truck.
I still dont think its overboard but i see what your saying...
And your gettin just the front axle for $400? thats a little high i would think, down here you can get a D44/9" in good working order with 4.10 gears with coils and rad.arms set up for $400 or lower, ive seen a combo go for as low as $200 without the coils and rad. arms...
just my .02

Was this in reference to me?????
If yes, then:
You should buy all of these you can. If this is true, you can make some real cash. While the stock radius arms and coils are pretty much useless, the other components are worth some cash.
You mention a chebby D60F for $400 is high? We should talk about you sending me some axles if you can get some for less.
I posted and offered $1000.00 cash money for any D60F driver side drop axle in working condition delivered, (any quantity) and I can say the same for this.
If you think that you can obtain a reasonable amount of D60F pass side drop (KP) axles for less than 400 bucks, then I will go so far as to work out the shipping, and will have a truck available to pick up as many as you can get your hands on.
If you can get them for less 400 bucks, then you should be able to make some real cash.
I will have to buy enough to make a trip accross the country worth while, but if they are that easy and cheap to get, I am all in.
While I am sure that half ton combos are cheap, they are not desireable to me, but if anyone can get 1 ton stuff on the cheap, I am willing to pay.
haha no i was talking to 9.ford.5 sorry, yeah i wish i could get 1 tons for $400 or under, im saying that you can usually get a full set of half tons f/r for under $400, i know around here a f/r set of 1 tons goes for $1000-1700 depeding on the axles and whats been done to em and all
no 400 for everything ha...axle, tie rod, draglink, rad arms and rackets, everything but hubs pretty much and thats for him to pull it all out if i was to do it it would be cheaper but its too cold and my tools are at work
