code reader....

So looking to get my dad a code reader for his/our trucks. his is a 2000. i tryed to search for a thread but of course i couldnt find anything. what you guys recommend.

There is a computer based program that most people recommend here. I can't remember the name.
Anyone?

Autoenginuity is what Neal is talking about. From what I hear it is a great system. I would also recommend the Aeroforce Scan gauge. It will read codes and data and has optional buzz and contribution test for about $250.

I think he would really like the gague, but then i couldnt use it on my truck and wheres the fun in that?

Actually I think Most of the parameters on the scan gauge will transfer. SD got more on it to read than our OBS-but the scan buzz and contribution should still work. Give terminator engineering a call and ask. And its a simply OBDII plug and play so no problems switching between the trucks.
