Depends on how old the rubber is. If you have recently changed the rear rubber then its flexible enough to get the headliner in behind it. If its the original window rubber it will be a challenge. Its much easier with the glass out and reinstall glass after the headliner is put in. The glass installs from the inside to the outside on the small window.
I had my wife help me install it and its the closest time I ever came to getting divorced.
The guy that sold it to me suggested spritzing it with warm water (backside not the finish side)
to make it more pliable ...it helped some but it was still a SOB.
I would rather replace the clutch again in my 56 Ford than replace the headliner !
I also used a new rubber that goes on the top mating surface.
The rubber on the back glass was still pliable.
