How do you remove the headliner from a supercab without destroying it?
A hole rusted in my roof and rotted my headliner. I fixed the hole and found a donor, but the windows aren't broken and I don't want to bend up the headliner too much removing it and putting it in my truck. Thanks
I have taken many of them in and out a two door sedan. Get it loose all the way around, work the driver's side front corner over the steering wheel, and let it drop to the front floorboard and go out the pass side door, front first. I am calling the rearview mirror area of the headliner the front.
Very carefully. Just as Franklin says. It helps to have a helper as the backing can be brittle and easy to break pieces off. You'ok have to flex it just a little to sneak it out with the door on.
I did one in an 88 chevy crew cab, and I had to take the front seat out. But wasn't too hard. Keep in mind it was a crew cab with a full 4 doors, so your extended cab should be much easier.
And yes, the factory installs them before the glass is installed.

Duct tape can fix any little pieces that fall off or crack. When you glue the new headliner on the backing, that really holds everything together.
