headliner for 56

bought a headliner from mid fifties and it says to remove the rear window
is this necessary or can it be installed without removal

When all else fails I read the instructions though I don`t see why you absolutely have to remove the back window except for ease of installation. I did mine without removing the window though it`s not hard to remove.
Anyone have any further thoughts to add.........
