OP, in this case, is the Operative that caused the catastrophe (me). Ignoring all the past posts about the risks and difficulties working with glass, I proceeded to install the new big back rear window with alacrity. To quote Maxwell Smart, “I missed it by that much --> “=”.
<o></o>
To my possible credit, the window flange was slightly bowed and not in the best of shape. Getting the molding’s inner lip past the flange and the ribbed section seated was the challenge. I knew that resorting to a Big Rubber Hammer might spell doom, but I proceeded recklessly as I had a new version of rosy palm. To quote INVICTUS, “..And yet the menace of the years finds and shall find me unafraid.” To make an agonizing story short, I failed!
<o></o>
So, to all my fellow old truck lovers, experience can be an expensive teacher. When force meets glass, glass loses. For the time being, I will be viewed as a crack head.
<o></o>
I am now taking a respite from the glass work and will be focusing my energies on a new wood bed. Stay turned for the next exciting chapter of when drill meets wood.

Look at the bright side... You salvaged your sense of humor!
There are way too many traps and pitfalls in this hobby to take things too seriously...Glad to see your back up and running
Good Luck!

I feel the pain. I broke my 2nd windshield yesterday but I never thought of comparing it to my butt. Looking for a mirror now.

That OK. We all have expensive oops. I install my drive shaft this weekend only to find that its 2'' to short after paying big bucks to have it shortened. Now I have to find another shaft to remeasure and see if it was my tape measure that was wrong or the shops that did the work for me.If any one out there has a 90 Crown Vic out there and can measure the drive shaft weld to weld and give me that number i would very much appreciate it.
