I can not get any power to my 4 prong connection in the brake light contact or the signal light conection. I do have power to the tail light conection. I have checked the fuses in the kick panel and all is good. Is there any other fuses in another location that controls the brake and signal light contacts or is there any thing that the dealer needs to do or turn on? I believe this is the first time a trailer has been hooked up.
That trailer wiring jack has a pigtail that runs over to the left rear corner underneath the vehicle. Find the connectors where the pigtail plugs into and inspect it. It is not uncommon for wires to be corroded right at the connectors.
If you have a towing package you have fuses for this under the hood. These fuses are to protect you truck lights from shorts in you trailer. Look at your manuel to see the location. I have a 2000 5.4 Exp and mine are under the hood in a black box approx. 3" x 5". This box is directly in front of the driver side. Its a little trick to open but they are there. Your manuel will tell you what fuse does what.
I know that this an old thread... but it helped me today!
I did not know that the wiring on the Expy (with HD Tow Package) included all separate fuses for the trailer wiring... was chasing an issue with the left stop/turn signal not working.
Now I know about the fuses, checked it out, and found the blown fuse. That should be the end of that .
Thanks,
Mark

A guy had run into the back of the trailer while I was stopped at a red light
The "tow hook" in his front bumper made a direct hit on the tailight on that left side, likely shorting it out (?)
I have replaced the light assembly, but the stop/turn signal light didn't work.
I'll know 100% for sure tonite after I replace the fuse.
