I am like all the rest, I bought a DiabloSport Predator programmer. It worked on my truck, I kept it at the 100HP tune. After I bought the DP Tuner from Jody Tipton, with 60-80-120, I couldn't believe what a huge difference his tuner was at extracting the MOST POWER from our 7.3 engines!!!!!
buy the new F6 chip that Jody is offering.
It offers a lot more tunability via a USB interface to add and chage tunes from a large database of power tunes.
Tony wildman if you are close to texas and like a rotary style selector and free reburns or get a DP Tuner with a fancy F-5 or F-6 chip so you can get your tunes e-mailed to you and have a fancy selector but you have to pay for reburns.
IIRC, they are setting it up so you can download it from their library itself.
Several choices here. All of them good. There is DP-Tuner, DP-Tuner, DP-Tuner, and DP-Tuner. If you are feeling brave and want a different but good one DP-Tuner.
Oh, I forgot, have you given DP-Tuner any consideration? I have heard they might be good.
Yes -- extra cooling and a shift kit of some kind. If you've done a shift kit before, get the TransGo -- it's a no brainer. If you think you might not like drilling holes in your expensive tranny parts, or doubt your mechanical skills, get the aftermarket VB. I put in the TransGo and love it!! I recommend it to anyone that has good mech skills, even if they haven't done one before.
Hi,
when you guys say "beef up the trans" what do you mean? A 6.0 cooler? shift kit? What should you do?
Thanks,
Jack
Yep, you got it. You can get a VB from BTS instead of a shift kit, it'll cost more but will probably be better. Or you could go the extreme route and have a new tranny completely rebuilt to handle most any amounts of HP. That's what I did, but not by choice and not when I wanted to.

I vote to get the BTS VB. Sure, you can use the Transgo unit but it is more messy. The VB is already done for you and the installation is easier. At the end of it, when the trans breaks, BTS will give you credit towards a new trans.

Not really, aklim. You pull the VB either way, and that = ATF shower...
The Tugger is ~$100 delivered, but the heavy duty kit is only $65. I would do it again in a heartbeat. What's $65 or $100 when you (might) be spending $4000?? There are more mods than just the Accumulator VB in both kits, BTW. It's actually a fairly substantial mod, and the tranny feels GREAT with them done.
I let a guy that drives a 6.0 Ex drive mine and I asked him how it felt. He specifically mentioned the tranny...
