Got new tires today and while I was paying for them I noticed that the shop has a service called fuel system flush. I asked about it and they said it was a great way to clean out fuel system and help injector build up.They also said it would help with cackle and mpg Has anybody here done this? and what are you'r thoughts?
If you run an additive like Diesel Kleen you'll probably get the same results. I have seen those same signs and asked the same question that you asked, and got the same answer. When I asked "what is cackle" his face got all flustered and the BS started flowing. I'd rather keep the $$$ in my pocket.
dont do it, its not for diesels, they are full of S****t, ask the guy how he wants to do it on diesel? SNAKE oil. get some aditives in your fuel and be done with it....
and no snake oil wil help you with cakle for sure, this is a design, put a fuel system and get rid of LL injector and no cackle....
and im sure you can find better ways to spend 200$ on. get your lady to a nice dinner....
Just run a few tanks of BioDiesel, and you'll be amazed how clean your fuel system will be. I just replaced my fuel filter after 15k, and it looked brand new. That's after replacing it previously after running a few tanks of BD, then doing the Hutch and putting in a pre-pump filter. THAT one gets a bit dirty -- I think I'll extend my fuel bowl filter interval a bit now. Incidentally, the old filter had some junk in it after running the BD and many tanks of DK treated fuel.
IF you really suspect your injectors are dirty or not working right, take them out and have them tested. That way you will KNOW as opposed to adding snake oils and HOPING that it works. This sort of cleaning is like sweeping a room in the dark. You don't know whether you cleaned the whole room, if it is dirty or there is a hole on the floor.
Those types of fuel injection flush services you see in tire and lube shops are nothing but a scam. It's a money maker for shops, with insane profit margins for that particular service.
Seen the signs but never did it. Talked to a disgruntled teck at a Pep-Boys once and he said the same thing. He took me back in the fuel treatment section and handed me a bottle of fuel system cleaner(can't remember) and said go and pay for it(5 something) and put it in and run it, whamo.
