I also forgot to mention that we bought or car trailer for 3 grand, used it to move twice (we figured the cost of renting trailers that big, for that long of a trip too) and sold it for 2500 when all was said and done.
Also, your stuff may not be expensive, but it is your stuff!
I had to haul alot of my inexpensive crap along both ways too haha.

Ok check this out. Below picture:
Couch off Craigslist: $20
Table was a garage sale find: $15
Chairs bought in various places, recovered: Never more than $3 each
Below picture -
TV stand was free. I repainted it: $0
Wooden stand: $4 at garage sale and repainted
Old red chair: $4 at garage sale
other red chair: $80 American Furniture Warehouse
Old ladder: $1 at garage sale, repainted
Like I said, nothing I own is worth the trouble and worry. Besides, I'll start all over. Think of all the cool old furniture I can find out in farmland...
Lisa, one of my favorite things for long travel is Rain X.. That was the only thing that I would have added you your list as a must have..
Do you really have someone traveling with you? If not, find a garage sale, find a cheap CB, could provide you with enough noise, and conversation to kill time..
I havent seen a link to it anymore, but find the HELP network, sign up, you can get members phone numbers in case of need..
Lets see, you already posted your map, so, last, you need to tell everyone the exact moment you leave, so we can figure out how long you should be on the road before we start looking for you..
Rain X is good on everything but the windshield.
I've found it makes the wipers stick to the window for some reason.
It is great on all the side window, mirrors, etc.
It's funny you mentioned that, Dan. My Father-in-Law had a horrible time with chattering wipers after using RainX ONCE. He never could keep them from chattering until he sold the car. It was an 80s Lincoln Town Car with almost 500k on that little 302. Nothing but the normal maint, and a waterpump/timing chain at 375k. Man, I LOVE those motors...
But back to RainX, I've been using it for years, and never had the problem. I just installed a set of those $20 Bosch wipers, and they are smooth as silk, RainX or not. I've never heard of anyone else experiencing that until now. Weird...
I haven't used rain-x in years and maybe it has changed
what I found was it worked great in hard rain, don't even need wipers
But in misty and drizzling rain as well as fof you had to uses wipers and was just a big smear that was hard to see through specially at night
Yeah, I agree, a lite mist, and I think I am the only one with my wipers on.. And, the biggest PIA about Rain X, it appears that I need to use the defrost more then normal.. But everything weighed in, I still use it..
Lisa, 16' X 8' sounds like to much trailer for a single axle.
No worries Joe. 12 x 6 is the best I am going to get. I called everywhere. United, Hertz, Penske, Budget, U Haul..everywhere. No one has a trailer bigger than 6 x 12. No one.
a 6 x 12 will have to work.
On edit. lol I had to share. I spoke with a company called Movex, they are a tractor/trailer move company and they haul all your stuff and your car for you. Somehow the lady got my info and was bugging me about doing my move that way, instead of renting a trailer. I was trying to tell her my car was too big to be put in the back of a tractor trailer and she kept fighting me on it. Finally I said "look lady, my truck is nearly 23' long and weighs 8000#". She was like, "oh, yeah, well, it's too heavy for our ramps".
