Man it sure does sound like your a packer, you would get along with my woman just fine. She tapes all the boxes up, labels everything, and im in charge of loading it all, I dont get to touch a thing when she packs!
I am so bad, in fact, I fully intend on measuring all of the stuff I want to pack to ensure it will fit in the trailer before I even go pick up the trailer..
Ya know, that sounds interesting enough to actually sit down and watch someone figure out... you wouldn't be a little OCD now, would ya?
I love my cordless impact drivers - 3/8" & 1/2" go in the truck with chargers, etc. & a power inverter (12v -> 110v) for recharging them if needed. That and my big floor jack & hi-lift jack. I like to take 2 spares on longer trips too. That's part of the reason I got rid of the 16.5" rims that were on my truck when I bought it. Too tough to find replacements in PoDunkville. 16" tires? no problem.

Its not that bad actually. Consider my predicament: The biggest trailer u haul rents out is a 12' x 6' x 6.5'. It'll cost me at least $1,000 extra to rent a u haul truck (when considering the cost of the truck + fuel) or one of those POD thingys...quite frankly none of my "stuff" is worth that cost.
So, everything I have to take with me needs to fit in that trailer, the rest goes to whoever wants it or goodwill. So, I need to have planned before the weekend of the move what will fit and what wont fit. Otherwise, I'll be forced to make emergency trips to Goodwill which is something i dont particularly want to do. I just want to pack that trailer, pack the truck, clean the house, and go. No troubles no issues.

That sounds like an awfully small trailer. Have you checked with the contractor rental places like United Rentals, Nations Rent, etc.? They usually have equipment designed to be pulled by 3/4 ton & 1 ton trucks. I would think you should be able to find something at least 16' at a place like that, and they'll charge you a flat daily rate (3 days usually = 1 week). You just need to find one with a branch at both ends of the trip and talk to them about the one way rental. A face to face conversation would be better for this so they don't discount you as some typical girl who doesn't know what she's getting into.

I just did a search on both places you mentioned, neither has an enclosed trailer, period. I have looked, I came up empty handed.
Even a car trailer with sides would be fine, I dont mind tarping. I haven't been able to find anything Chris, and I am not set up to haul a 5th wheel. If you can find a standard hitch trailer at that size, you'll be my hero.

I can't do 5th wheel but do have the GN setup in my bed, brake controller... all the goodies. If it turns out you do want to get one that's a GN setup, well, like I said, me & the pups kinda like road trips. It'd be good to "get outta Dodge" for a bit too.
Out of curiosity, how much would it cost for you to rent the trailer you are wanting to rent?
$250. I wouldn't mind having a bigger trailer but like I said guys its not that big of a deal. Its not like I have expensive stuff.

Thats very nice of you Brendan, but you'd have to take several days off work and Cedar Rapids is an 800 mile trip, each way. The original owner of my truck had the GN setup, I can see where the unit was mounted, and I have the brake box too, but I have never used any of that stuff.
Chris, I found that Hertz Equipment company has a single axle enclosed trailer that is 8' x 16'. I just emailed them requesting a quote as it looks like they have a location in Denver and a location in Iowa City, which is just a short jog from Cedar Rapids.
United Rentals lists a 5' x 15' furniture trailer available, RSC also rents box trailers.
If you're not scared of tarping the load, and since you've been talking about getting a little tractor, have you considered just buying your own 16' flatbed trailer? Some plywood and 2 x 4's could give you sides, then you'll have a way to go pick up your tractor when you find the right one.

I cant see the furniture trailer you mentioned when I search their site. can you post a link?
I don't want to deal with buying a trailer right now, and quite honestly I have other plans for the money I'll make off the house. If I had made more money on the sale I would have considered it. Spending a few grand isn't entirely appetizing to me at this point. Also I'm not sure I want to deal with the time/energy/cost involved in building sides for a trailer.
Really you guys, my stuff is not valuable. I'd rather give most of it away than worry about it so much.
I was thinking something more along the lines of this Trailer For Sale where he's asking $900. You're already going to shell out $250 for the rental, so for about 600 more you get your own trailer.
Thats what i was eventually getting at, was maybe getting your own trailer.
When we moved to bc (was a 16-18 hour trip through the mountains) we bought a car trailer, and installed sides on it. My f150 pulled it the first time, and the superduty pulled it when we moved back to sask, a year later.

Yeah, it would be worth it but I did disucuss this with Randy. Not until we buy a house will we have room for any of this stuff. There is no room for any type of trailer at the rental property.
Its okay though, we'll be inundated with stuff unless I get rid of quite a few things. Randy has really nice furniture, so my garage sale makeovers aren't necessary anymore.
The less crap I drag with me, the better off we'll be.
