I have my Sisters 2002 Mercury mountaineer borrowed while my 2002 Explorer is in the body shop this week. Her dash keeps saying change oil, door open & her inside lights & puddle lights stay on all the time unless you turn them off on the dash, also her remote will lock all doors but will not open any of them. Please tell me what to do to repair this my self for her.
Johnny,If you check pages 28 and 29 in your owners guide, it tells you how to reset the oil change light. As for the door open, check the rear glass to see if it is closed correctily. Mine pops open for no reason. You can also check the switches on the doors. Let us know what you find.

Today after checking the door switches & the rear glass I was driving her mountaineer & the check transmission light came & I had it scanned & it showed the solinoid b for the transmission bad, is this a sign of Over drive getting ready to go out?, I still have the door adjar light on even after cleaning the door switches, I can't get the info display to anything it says shut door to reset, is the bad switch in the drivers dooor or where?
I think that they are built in with the door latch assembley, that is where a friend that runs a car lot told me to clean with carb cleaner & then with WD 40 or PB Blast & that sometimes that would fix them, I tried it & still have the same promblem, I'll find out for sure next week from the local Ford Dealer ship in Rutledge Tn. when I get home. I moslt likely will be taking her Mountaineer there within a Month to get it all fixed up for her, Trans Tune up, switches, brakes, etc, it needs a lot done to it but it is cheaper than trading up to a newer one.
The interior light switches are in the door latch assembly. I have cleaned mine and lubed well with either a silicone spray or PB Blast. It has taken two cleaning sessions, but did work. If you do not use the passenger or rear doors a lot, the crap builds up and can cause a problem.
