Need to pull axles? Need some tips..
This only requires the removal of the drums, and the bearing reatainers. $ bolts on each side, and the axleshafts will pull out.
Perhaps you have a 4 wheel drive, and you are pulling the front shafts also????
Remove hub assembly, and spindle, then axle shafts will pull out.
Draining the fluid first is a good idea, or things will get messy.
Maybe, you are removing the entire axle housing as a complete unit?
Remove driveshaft, shocks, e-brake cables, spring plates, and remove entire axle assembly.
Same is true for front if 4wd, only one has to also remove the steering linkage.
That about sums it up I guess.

I drag the truck onto the trailer. I use a torch or a sawzal to cut the Ubolts, brake lines, ebrake, steering. Have driveshafts out already. If anything is attached, cut it. When the ubolts are cut, they will pop. Finish them off by whacking em with a hammer to clear the tubes. Strap frame to the trailer very well, haul to the junkyard. Have them lift the body off of the trailer, axles stay behind, strap the axles, go home.
If you were not planning on junking the truck, I put the truck on jackstands, and a jack under the axles, and support their weight. Ubolt everything except the ubolts. Pull the bolts from the shackles(from the leafspring) and lower the axle to the ground. Ubolt the Ubolts, roll axle from the truck. Installation is reverse from removal. Position the axle on the ground, under the springs, hook the ubolts up. Raise the axle back into position and put the bolts back into the shackes. I have tried other ways, this is the easiest IMO.
but, will a dually rear axle bolt right up to my F100 driveshaft, springs, u-bolts etc.? thanks guys........
