Well, if you payin someone to do the work,,,, yep 3 bills would be about right, I would say if he did a good job, he did you ok. Mind you, they are there to make a dollar, NOT just provide a service. You probably could have done it for less than half of that, this is where this place comes in handy, you could get a chiltons manual, or rhe like, read it, ask some questions and do it, if ya get in trouble, somebody on here would be able to walk ya thru!! I challenge you to tackle the rears!!
I just paid a bit less for front pads & resurfacing with inspection on a car, but not that much less. Sounds fair. Good work, oem or better parts? Paying too little for a brake job is no bargain.
That is a very fair price IMO. I get customers that would think that is way overpriced and they are usually back because no one else would do stuff cheaper. I also have customers that would say $20 is too high LOL. You get what you pay for. I know when I did brakes on my old Dodge I did pads, rotors, and calipers and it cost me $200 to do it myself. I think it is a great price.
Rebuilt calipers $20.00x2 = $40.00
Pads on the high side $20.00
Machine the rotors $15.00x2 = $30.00
Seals, maybe $10.00 each x2 = $20.00
Brake fluid, $3.00
So you have roughly a $110.00 worth of parts to do that brake job. At the most 2 hours labor for someone experienced.
When you take it to a service garage, Midas or whoever they are charging you list price on those parts, not what you could go to a parts store and buy them for. So in addition to making money on the labor they also profit from the parts sale.
